The Grant Process

Use the Grant Application HERE as a guide to creating your submission.

  • Non-profit should review the Grant Application and follow the guidelines to create and submit an application.
  • The Wheels for Change Board of Trustees meets quarterly to review applications and award grants.
  • The non-profit is notified by Wheels for Change.

Once the grant is awarded, Wheels for Change staff works with representative(s) from the non-profit to determine the non-profit’s timeline. In some cases, the non-profit has already secured their portion of the matching dollars to proceed.

  • Wheels for Change consults with the non-profit to determine the vehicle type and customizations required.
  • Wheels for Change obtains multiple quotes and collaborates with the non-profit to select the vehicle that best suits their needs.
  • Wheels for Change initiates the wholesale purchase through the agreed upon vendor keeping the non-profit involved throughout the process.
  • Upon delivery of the vehicle, Wheels for Change provides operating instruction and develops a maintenance schedule with the non-profit.

Organizations are limited to one application submission in a 12-month period. Wheels for Change does not consider applications that have been submitted or dated 12 months previously.

Grant Reporting

Grant recipients are required to provide feedback using the Grant Reporting Guidelines HERE on their experience with Wheels for Change. It is crucial that the mission and goals of the Foundation are met and that partnering organizations benefit from collaborating with Wheels for Change. Please provide us with formal feedback six months after taking receipt of the vehicle.

Being a foundation committed to helping non-profits address their transportation issues, your input will enable Wheels for Change to sharpen our vision and refine our guidelines. We are looking for recommendations that will maximize the impact of our funding and find better ways to support non-profit organizations.
